When the CEO of Action on Hearing Loss, Paul Breckell, posted a video urgently asking the charity’s supporters to bridge a potential 2.5 million pound shortfall in the charity’s funds in February there was shock and then worry.
Dr Lorraine Gailey, Chief Executive of Hearing Link, a UK-wide charity that provides hearing loss support has responded, "The country’s changing demographics means the numbers of people with hearing loss are expected to increase substantially due to age-related hearing loss. Good services are therefore more essential than ever.
"People need the right information and support to be made available at the right time and in the right way." she adds.
Providing a range of rehabilitation services, specialist individual support and helpdesk services, Hearing Link continues to grow and has recently extended its services to people in Wales and Northern Ireland.
“Our partnership approach and strong volunteer network is allowing us to meet the needs of many more individuals and families and we do that extremely cost effectively,” says Lorraine. “Anyone in need of information about hearing loss or wishing to discuss concerns can contact our helpdesk at 0300 111 1113 or [email protected] or through our Head Office. There is no reason for anyone to feel alone.”
Hearing Link is a UK charity for people with hearing loss, their family and friends. It gives people knowledge, skills, contacts and confidence so they can more easily manage the practical and emotional challenges that hearing loss can bring.
