On Saturday 7 May 2016, as part of Deaf Awareness Week, Mary Hare School’s PTA held a James Bond Themed Ball at the beautiful listed building, Mill Hall, in Greenham.

Usually the Mary Hare Primary School, Mill Hall was transformed into 007 headquarters. Guests arrived as 007, Dr No and many Bond Girls and were treated to a champagne reception ‘shaken not stirred’, followed by dinner. Guests then enjoyed an evening of dancing to Bond music played by local band, The Advocates, and ‘gambling’ at the casino.

Pam Robinson, Head of the Primary School, welcomed guests and showed a short film made by the school pupils. Dressed as secret agents, the children made it their mission to encourage guests to raise money for their school.

Peter Gale, Our Principal, turned up as ‘Odd Job’  and performed his duty as the auctioneer for the night, raising just under £3,000 from items such as tickets to Top Gear, a signed Chelsea football shirt and a weekend in the Isle of Man.

The raffle raised over £1,000, thanks to the support of local Newbury companies and restaurants who donated prizes, helping the evening be a real success.
