Nominations are open for the Signature Annual Awards. The Awards are firmly established as respected annual event to celebrate those who are breaking down the barriers for deaf and deafblind people.

Hosted by charity and awarding body Signature, the eighth successful annual awards event, focuses on recognising and celebrating pioneers and unsung heroes, who through education and training are striving to break down the social and communication barriers between the wider UK population and its 11 million deaf and hard of hearing population.

Each year the Signature Annual Awards recognise a wealth of people and organisations working with deaf people across the nation. This year Signature will host ‘Signature Recognises… the educators’, award categories include; Leadership in Education Award, Emerging Teacher Award, Enriching the Student Experience Award, The Community Champion Award, Educational Support Award, Transforming Lives through Education Award, Training Initiative Award and Signature Lifetime Achievement Award , highlighting those who are embracing diversity and equal opportunities striving to improve access for deaf and deafblind people across services.

A nationwide search is currently underway to find nominees who provide opportunities for deaf/ deafblind communication, deaf awareness and sign language learning for both hearing and deaf individuals. Signature Chief Operating Officer Lindsay Foster said, “We are overwhelmed every year by the amazing stories that are uncovered through our awards and it gives us great pleasure in being able to celebrate the successes of great work that is being done to help improve the lives of deaf people across the UK.

“We would like to ask as many people and organisations as possible to nominate so we can recognise organisations and individuals commitment to making an impact through education and training to deaf and deafblind peoples’ lives.â€?

The awards are free to nominate and all nominations will close on Wednesday 15 July 2016. To find out more information about the awards and to start your nomination visit www.signatureannualawards.org.uk
